Tehran Massive Book Garden inaugurated

A massive Book Garden is launched in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

A massive Book Garden has been launched in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

Tehran Book Garden was opened on Monday in the presence of Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf.

The complex, stretching in an area of 7,000 square meters, hosts more than 35 million book titles in four major sections.

Covering a total area of 65,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space, Book Garden has been scheduled to be opened in the Abasabad Hills in northern Tehran.

The center is considered a huge permanent bookstore, which is slated to remain open throughout the year.

“All sections of the project will be launched at the opening ceremony,” Majid Hosseini, director-general of the Book Garden said earlier.

The huge bookstore is one of the largest of its kind, providing ample space and amenities to help promote book reading.

People of all status and ages can enjoy the vast collection of books at the center. Special areas are predicted for catering to the needs of children and adolescents.

The open grounds surrounding the buildings, covering 45,000 square meters, includes an artificial lake, a restaurant and coffee shop and playgrounds for kids.

The center has five halls, including a main level accommodating 600 people for theater, stage plays and orchestral music performances. Four research halls are available for academics to hold classes for university students.

Book Garden is part of the Abasabad Cultural Complex, which also includes Nature Bridge, Flag Tower, Gonbad Mina (Enamel Dome) Planetarium, Art Garden, Sacred Defense Garden Museum and Flower Garden.
